Massage Schools - there are over 1000 massage schools in the United States alone. Massage therapy is one of the fastest growing vocations today, and there are hundreds of opportunities in the marketplace for massage therapists in places such as spas, clinical settings, cruise ships, and private practice.

There are many variations of massage therapy and massage technique. Massage school studies expand the student's knowledge of the nurturing human touch, therapeutic touch methods, and techniques that advance the natural healing process. Healing touch can reduce stress, alleviate pain and depression, and boost the immune system.

Massage schools teach massages that increase lubrication of muscle tissue, massages that increase circulation and flexibility, massages that induce relaxation, massages meant to reduce pain and physical dysfunction, and massages focused on a holistic approach to Health and healing. Massage therapy studies may require participate in an internship, giving students on-the-job training in preparation for professional employment.

Massage schools may offer certification in just months of study, however, in more intense programs, courses in anatomy, physiology, and pathology may be part of a professional massage therapy curriculum. Some massage schools train health care practitioners, and may include CPR and first aid in their certification.

A massage therapy curriculum may also include presentation, advertising, résumé writing, interviewing skills, starting and operating a massage therapy business, and sound practices of operating a business.
